Walking at Stithians Lake
Located a few miles from the A30, the reservoir is surrounded by farmland and moorland, including a network of paths for tranquil or more active expeditions. There is a great walk from the café to the imposing Stithians dam. Take care: the route does involve a section of country lanes. There is also a 5 mile circular route which runs adjacent to the lake through meadows, wet woodland and heathland, which are environmentally managed by our dedicated Countryside Team.

Would you like to join us for the weekend?
There are a few weekend non-electric camping pitches left, but these are only bookable by phoning Matt at Stithians Lake on 01209 860301.
This campout, walks and activities are part of our Mary Lockyer: Starlight heritage and creative practice project, which researches and shares the story of the inspiring Edwardian astronomer, photographer and social activist Mary Lockyer. We have chosen this location as being close to the Wendron Stone Circles which the Lockyers visited to look for astronomical alignments. The remaining stones from the circle are not easy to access but we will be sharing information about their story and archaeoastronomy.
For more information about the project and Mary Lockyer, please see our website at www.mayescreative.com. With thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund and Feast Cornwall for funding support and to our project supporters Norman Lockyer Observatory, the Royal Astronomical Society and Exeter University.
We hope you are able to join us.
We are available before the event if you have any unanswered questions about access or content. Please message us here or via our website.
