Cosmic Ray Detectors
Cosmic Rays are high energy particles, such as protons or atomic nuclei, that move through space at almost the speed of light. They are a form of high-energy radiation that mostly originate outside the solar system, although some can come from the sun. The origin of these rays is unknown although some scientists believe them to be triggered by supernovas.
The detection and understanding of these Cosmic Rays is vitally important to the progression of space exploration and our dependance on satellite technology. By detecting Cosmic Rays scientists can understand more about the effects of our exposure to them and their directionality in the atmosphere. Mayes Creative is contributing to this understanding by moving away from the current process of detection, which utilises large equipment in specific locations, to global but compact devices that can collect data from an unprecedented amount of locations.

Mayes Creative has developed a three stage process to gather data for engagement and enterprise:
Mayes Creative have partnered with Aerospace Cornwall to secure the IP for this project which will allow for events to be held that will provide the community and industry professionals with the chance to engage with this project and gain key information. |

Mayes Creative recently ran a school project with Cosmic Ray Detectors on the Isles of Scilly. This involved actively engaging children with the Cosmic Ray Detectors and provoking an interest in science whilst also producing scientific data that can used by industry professionals. Thus, the school children had the opportunity to contribute to genuine scientific findings. Through such projects, Mayes Creative is continuing to bridge the gap between community and industry, making science accessible for everyone.
Mayes Creative has also worked with Cosmic Rays as part of a previous project 'Dark Skies: Bright Stars' which you can learn more about by clicking on the imaged below.
