Inspired by the way in which we have made use of local stone as part of our cultural heritage, visual artist Peter Beeson will be your guide, encouraging you to consider the way in which we can capture the geology of the area through tone
In the afternoon, enjoy a drawing workshop (booking essential) at Poltesco Cove, exploring the tonal values and ruggedly beautiful heritage of the Lizard peninsula, taking inspiration from the local heritage of stone used both for the creation of barrows in the Bronze Age and sought-after serpentine ornaments in Victorian times.
An indoor session will be held before lunch, followed by an application of the techniques discussed and worked with in the morning, during an afternoon outdoor drawing session, weather permitting. Suitable for all levels of skill. This activity is aimed at adults/young adults.
Participants are requested to bring a soft 2B graphite pencil. All other materials provided, all abilities welcomed. You’ll create a piece of work to take away, and we may share your work as part of our Lizard Beacons project.
PARKING: Limited parking available at Poltesco, down by the Cove. Sat Nav: TR12 7LR
These workshops are part of MAYES CREATIVE’s Lizard Beacons project supported by Heritage Lottery, FEAST and Big Lottery in partnership with The National Trust.
