Stars and Stones:
Sound and Film Jams

Artists and musicians signed up for a half day session with us, working with sound and film practitioners in the beautiful settings of the Penwith stone circles; the Merry Maidens, Nine Maidens and Boscawen Un. Artists had a chance to work alongside Paper Cinema’s Chris Reed recording environmental sound, with Robin Tyndale-Biscoe on sonic testing of ancient sites and handmadefilm.org’s Robert Schaller on site-specific analogue filming and hand processing. An open editing day followed at Lands End YHA where we processed/looked at what we had created.

Produced by Mayes Creative, delivered in partnership with Cultivator and supported by the European Regional Development Fund, Arts Council England, Cornwall Council & Heritage Lottery Fund.

Stars and Stones: Sound and Film Jams May 2-4 2018 - past event

Sign up for a half day session with us on the Wednesday or Thursday, working with sound and film practitioners in the beautiful settings of the Penwith stone circles; the Merry Maidens, Nine Maidens and Boscawen Un. You will get a chance to work alongside Paper Cinema’s Chris Reed recording environmental sound, with Robin Tyndale-Biscoe on sonic testing of ancient sites and handmadefilm.org’s Robert Schaller on site-specific analogue filming and hand processing. An open editing day follows at Lands End YHA where we can process/look at what we have created and talk about how to work with our material.

Bring your own skills and practice along to see how this work might inform your own approaches to work in the ancient sites of West Penwith.

Booking Required (FREE)

May 2nd 10-1 and/or 2-5 (current plan Merry Maidens am/Nine Maidens pm)
May 3rd 10-1 and/or 2-5 (Merry Maidens am/Boscawen Un pm)
May 4th Editing Day (YHA Lands End/wet weather contingency)

All locations/meeting points are weather dependent! Hopefully the weather will be kind and we will be able to stick to our plans, but we do have wet weather ideas & plans (being Cornwall...) so please do book and we will stay in touch re: any changes.
