Full Circle: Creative Filmmaking workshops
We are offering two one day creative filmmaking workshops with visiting artist Robert Schaller responding to the dark skies, bright stars, neolithic sites and landscape of Bodmin Moor. All workshops and events are kindly subsidised by Heritage Lottery Fund & Feast. A unique creative opportunity, not to be missed! Can be taken as single days or as a two day immersion; why not stay for the immersion weekend and camp at the farm?

OVERVIEW.....
Research into The Hurlers, a stone circle up on Bodmin Moor, suggests they align with the positions and movements of the sun and stars. It is, therefore, a perfect place to consider our current and historic relationship with those stars and planets. These workshops take place around the Autumnal Equinox, when special alignments happen with the rising sun.
Full Circle also includes an exciting heritage immersion weekend (22-24 Sept).
And to extend the opportunity to family and friends, there are a number of open workshops and events that they can join in too; all wrapped up by Brian Sheen, a local astronomy expert, who will help us try and get to the bottom of why the stones are there.
PLUS! We will be staying at Cheesewring Farm, with only a gate between ourselves and the open moor! Participants can join the camp for £6/night or stay elsewhere and book in for events and workshops as below:

Our creative team.....WORKSHOP LEADER
Creative Analogue Filmmaking Robert Schaller is the director of the Handmade Film Institute in Colorado, USA and runs the renowned Wilderness Filmmaking Camps around the world. Robert received his MFA at the University of Colorado with Stan Brakhage and Phil Solomon. His creative life and teaching combine an extensive early background in science with studies of music composition, ancient languages (Latin and Greek), philosophy, and experimental filmmaking, along with a love of the wild. In filmmaking he has found a potent intersection of the tactile and ephemeral, making it a perfect medium for addressing humanity's relationship to the material world. WORKSHOP SUPPORT Cinestar Joanna Mayes and Jacqui Knight from Cornwall-based artist film organisation Cinestar will be supporting these events in Cornwall. |

Of all the places humans live on earth, a handful stand out as places of enduring fascination and special significance. Bodmin Moor is one of these. Spend a week as a filmmaker coming to understand and film this transcendent landscape and its neolithic stone circles as the year comes to the autumnal equinox. We will be using non-toxic processes, processing our film in the open air, and investigating unconventional ways to capture images so that they reflect both the nature of the place and of ourselves as embodied beings in it. Delicious vegan food is provided for all meals, and we will be camping at the moor's edge. Black and White film, chemistry, and processing equipment will be provided. This will be a true immersion, a week with no other concern but how filmmaking can relate to an extraordinary site. The campsite is situated in beautiful wild countryside with expansive views and surrounded by ancient Neolithic settlements and stone circles. Explore the Cornish Mining World Heritage Sites at Minions and Carnglaze Caverns near St Neot. Go riding, cycling or try windsurfing on the nearby Sibly back lake. Climb up to the Cheesewring stones and look across to Dartmoor and out to the north and south coast or enjoy a pub lunch, afternoon tea or an ice cream in the local pub and cafes in Minions and surrounding villages. All are welcome to join Equinox weekend events by paying the fee on the door. Please pre-book for Friday 22nd Sept night dinner.
